Timing Chain Gatwick is based at our workshop in Copthorne, on the West Sussex / Surrey border, and we cover roughly a 15-mile radius around Gatwick Airport. That takes in most of Mid Sussex, a large slice of east Surrey, and the western edge of Kent. Wherever you are inside that radius, we offer free vehicle collection and return — so if your BMW or Ford isn’t safe to drive, you don’t have to risk it.

We are a specialist workshop, not a general garage. We only do two things: BMW timing chain replacement (N47, N57 and B47 diesels, plus N20 and B58 petrols) and Ford wet belt replacement (1.0 EcoBoost and 1.5 / 2.0 EcoBlue). Every job uses genuine OEM parts, comes with a fixed-price quote up front, and is backed by our 12-month warranty.

Our workshop location

You’ll find us at Cottage Place, Copthorne Common, Copthorne, West Sussex RH10 3LF — between Crawley and East Grinstead, with easy access from the A264 and the M23 at Junction 10. Gatwick Airport sits roughly five miles to the west.

Horley and Redhill are the closest Surrey towns to us, both under 15 minutes up the A23. Dorking and Leatherhead sit at the outer edge of our radius, but we collect from there regularly — particularly for Ford 1.0 EcoBoost wet belt jobs.

Edenbridge is a short hop down the B2026, and Tunbridge Wells sits right at the edge of our 15-mile radius — still covered by free collection, though we ask Tunbridge Wells customers to call ahead so we can plan the route.

What free collection actually means

If you live inside our 15-mile radius and your car isn’t safe to drive — or you simply don’t want to risk it — we’ll come to you and bring it back to the workshop ourselves. We use a trailer where needed, so there’s no further wear on a stretched chain or a failing wet belt. There is no charge for this; it’s included as standard with every booking.

This matters more than people realise. If your BMW is throwing fault code 2A87 (camshaft / crankshaft correlation) or your Ford is showing P0016, every additional mile risks valve-to-piston contact and a destroyed engine. Letting us collect the car is almost always cheaper than gambling on the drive in.

What we do — and what we don’t

We’re deliberately narrow. By specialising, we get the job done faster, more reliably and at a better price than a general garage that does one of these jobs every few months.

We don’t do MOTs, servicing, brakes, clutches or general repairs. If you need one of those, your usual garage is the right place. If you need a chain or a wet belt done properly, we’re the right place.

Outside our 15-mile radius?

Please call us anyway. We can sometimes accommodate cars from further afield — particularly for BMW N47 chain jobs, where it’s worth the trip — and if we genuinely can’t help, we’ll usually be able to point you towards a trusted specialist closer to home. There’s no charge for the conversation.
